Marketing with Facebook, Blogs and Wikis

Marketing with Facebook, Blogs and Wikis (for beginners)

HMA of NSW are organising a workshop about marketing with Facebook, Blogs and Wikis and is looking for expressions of interest. As the title suggests this will be a workshop for beginners.

Interested? Please contact Bernard Chapman, HMA NSW Committee member at  kurrajong16@bigpond.com or phone (02) 9416 2626

Are you familiar with changing methods of promoting for the self-employed or small business? Facebook, Blogs and Wikis might be terms you think are restricted to ‘young people’s’ language – but they’re actually very relevant to many of us.

Did you know that search engine usage has dropped as more people get referrals from their peers as to where to shop, what to buy, where to go and experience dinner, movies etc. Peer referral is growing and is called ’social networking’.

If you’re interested in knowing a little more about YouTube, Facebook, Flickr and how to use it in business, the HMA NSW is proposing to organise a 1/2-day course during which you’ll get a real taste of the marketing power of these new and easy-to-use internet tools. Time will be spent exploring this dynamic and challenging area – and no technical or prior knowledge required.

Date:
DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED
Time:
9.30am – 12.30pm
Where:
In the Chatswood, North Ryde or Glebe area, depending on the size of the audience

Speaker:
Laurel Papworth
(One of her roles is a lecturer in Social Media at Sydney University).
Cost:
Dependant on the number attending, less the larger the audience

We are looking for a show of hands at this point to decide if we have an audience. The information we’d like to know NOW is:

  • Would you like to attend? YES / NO
  • Would you like to attend but the cost would prevent you? (although it is Tax deductible as Self-Education) YES / NO

Interested? Please contact Bernard Chapman, HMA NSW Committee member at  kurrajong16@bigpond.com or phone (02) 9416 2626

Highgrove and Gardens of Scotland

Last year Friends of The Gardens ran a very successful tour to the United Kingdom, which included a visit to Highgrove, Prince Charles’ private estate. They are returning  4 – 19 August 2009 – this time off to Scotland, the gardens of Yorkshire and other delights.

Walled Garden

Walled Garden

The tour takes in the Scottish capital, staying in Edinburgh for four nights with a very special visit to the Garden of Cosmic Speculation for a day. Highlights include the Garden of Alnwick, which we were inspired to visit after the Duchess of Northumberland’s recent visit to Australia, the Millennium Garden in Norfolk designed by Piet Oudolf, and Beth Chatto’s garden in Colchester.

Returning to Highgrove and Westonbirt Arboretum to see them in their summer finery, and due to popular demand, revisit Kew Gardens and Wisley, and finish with a farewell dinner at the Reform Club in London.

Price $8990 Twin Share Land content only.

“There are certain strengths that we take for granted in our urban environment and the objects that we surround our selves with.” Robbie Rowlands
kerb 17 critiques current modes of thinking about the practice of landscape architecture, offering up a discussion of where landscape architecture is, what it has evolved from, and what it might become in the future. The collection of works and ideas by international and Australian designers and artists featured in kerb 17 respond and demonstrate how through the medium of landscape and a potential mediation of design disciplines we can reconsider contemporary ideas of landscape.
Robbie Rowlands is a Melbourne based artist whose work explores notions of stability and vulnerability through the manipulation of objects and environments. His repetitious and precise cuts and the resulting distortions reflect the inescapable passing of time that affects everything around us.

Urban Forest Seminar

Urban Forests – Striving for a natural balance

The seminar from Treelogic aims to provide a holistic perspective around the sociological, psychological and economic perspectives of our urban environment. Our renowned guest speakers have a wealth of valuable information and will cover the benefits of increasing tree coverage in our cities and how appropriate design allows greater planting opportunities. In addition, discussions regarding the development and implementation of urban forest management are not to be missed.

Green infrastructure is a vital component of the urban fabric and social quality and due to climatic change, issues of sustainability and community expectation, the importance of the green infrastructure has increased.

These new urban demands has necessitated an integrative approach to natural resource management.  Urban Forestry embodies a multidisciplinary approach to the planning and management of all urban vegetation ranging from street trees through to peri-urban (urban fringe) woodlands and forests (Konijnendijk, et al. 2005).

The seminar is about the development of greener, more sustainable cities to help communities become better places to live, learn, work and play. I hope you or your colleagues will consider coming to our seminar.  I have attached some promotional material.
