Seminar Room
11 Blaxland Road, Ryde
Time:
25 July, 2008
4pm – 7pm
Refreshments will be provided

Chris Miller and Arthur Lathouris from AILDM will provide introductory comments relating to design requirements from local government for swimming pools and the process and pitfalls of design specification required to ensure the desired design outcome for clients.

Speaker One
Manfred Wiesemes, president of SPASA will give an overview on the current state of the swimming pool industry.  With on-going water restrictions and a continuing drought, the public has experienced a change in perception about the value of swimming pools. The industry has had to adapt and rise to the challenge of being more environmentally friendly and working with new swimming pool regulations and controls.

Speaker Two
Anthony Cross and Dave Turner from Compass Pools Australia present an overview of their experiences as a national commercial and residential pool company. They discuss their adaptation to change and the new technologies and product innovations being developed in response to current public perception and industry regulations.

Anthony Cross is Manager of Business Development for Compass Pools Australia. Dave Turner is responsible for Commercial Projects for Compass Pools Australia, and has worked in the pool industry for over 20 years.

Speaker Three
Ian Boulter from Aquaviva Australia provides an insight into the future direction of swimming pools and ‘green technology’. His focus will be on innovations in pool filtration allowing for the creation of ecosystems for naturalistic landscape design in swimming pool projects.

Ian Boulter is the Australian Agent for Blue Base, a bio filter company which invented bio pools. This eco-friendly method of filtering water eliminates the need for chemicals and achieves drinkable water quality.

ZZ TOP IMPERSONATION

“Did our patron, Allan Correy and President, Arthur Lathouris really lift the roof off the Harbourview Hotel at the AILDM dinner with a ZZ Top impersonation?”

Winners of the 2008 Landscape Design Awards

Once again our top award has gone north to Newcastle,
the ‘birthplace’ of AILDM.

Richard Kelly and Gary Edwards of Urban Exotic have walked away with several awards including the Allan Correy Award of Design Excellence. This is the second time in the four years of the AILDM awards that Newcastle designers have claimed the honour (Darren Shearer 2006).

Is there something in the water? Coal dust perhaps or fine wines from the Hunter Valley. Perhaps it’s just dedication and a commitment to excellence.

Congratulations to all the winners and finalists in this year’s awards and thankyou to our judges Stuart Pittendrigh and Jennifer Stackhouse.
