Invitation to join with your local community, experts and stakeholders

“CLIMATE PROOFING OUR COMMUNITIES”

Date: Tuesday, 1st June 2010
Time: 9am – 4pm
Venue:
Wests Mayfield, Scenic room at: 32 Industrial Dr, Mayfield
‘Morning tea and lunch provided’

Thinking globally, acting locally. We’ve all heard about climate change and had a chance to think about what it means for our local and regional environments. This forum will present those activities and initiatives already happening in New South Wales to combat the impacts of climate change.

Conservation Volunteers and Shell have joined together to create an opportunity for key people in our region to discuss our important local environment issues. The focus of this invitation-only forum will be to develop our collective understanding of impacts and opportunities, build productive relationships and possibly develop a broad proactive plan to minimise our vulnerability.

The forum will involve an initial session of context setting followed by presentations from key local

Stakeholders including community groups, business and Government. A facilitated session will focus our acquired learning and by providing you with an opportunity to present your views, explore concepts for climate proofing the region. The results will be communicated to all attendees and may then form part of action plans for state and local government, environmental community groups and agencies in New South Wales.

It’s about maintaining biodiversity and business in a changing climate. It’s about what you think is important, what you think should be done and how it can be achieved. It’s about working together. It’s about understanding how global issues impact on us locally.

You have been sent this invitation because we would value your input in the discussion. Your organisation is also welcome to set up display materials on the day.
